Reps. Schofield, Scott Encourage African American Women-Owned Businesses to Participate in Goldman Sachs Virtual Business Growth Session

ATLANTA – State Representatives Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) and Sandra Scott (D-Rex) encourage African American women business owners to participate in Goldman Sachs’ interactive virtual session on business growth strategies on Thursday, September 16, 2021, from 3 – 4 p.m.

“I appreciate Goldman Sachs for partnering with Black women legislators from across the country to create a space specifically for African American women to learn more about growing their businesses,” said Rep. Schofield. “African American women are becoming an economic engine in Georgia’s small business community. Private investment into their success will lead to greater opportunities, not just for African Americans communities, but for our changing state as a whole.”

This event will be hosted by the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program and the National Organization of Black Elected Legislative (NOBEL) Women. During the event, participants will learn about the following topics: assessing the financial health of businesses; evaluating the impact of an uncertain environment; analyzing different funding options, revenue streams and other potential pivots for business resilience; and using financial metrics to lead a business to new opportunities. Participants will also receive information regarding the online application process for the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program.

“This is going to be an incredibly powerful event for African American women who own their own businesses,” said Rep. Scott. “I am grateful that business giants, like Goldman Sachs, are starting to pour resources into our African American women business owners. There is so much more to be done to support these business owners, and I hope this event encourages other economic leaders to give back to small businesses.”

The webinar is ideal for African American women business owners or co-owners whose business has been in operation for at least two years and has produced at least $75,000 in revenue in the most recent fiscal year. Participants should also have a minimum of two employees, including the owner. This event is free, but registration is required. To register for this virtual event, please click here.
