Reps. Scott and Thomas Ask Gov. Kemp for Guidance Regarding COVID-19 Cases Among Homeless Populations

ATLANTA – State Representatives Sandra Scott (D-Rex) and “Able” Mable Thomas (D-Atlanta) recently sent a letter to Governor Brian Kemp to request assistance and guidance regarding novel coronavirus, COVID-19, cases among Georgia’s homeless populations.

In a letter dated March 26, 2020, Reps. Scott and Thomas wrote:

“As we sit around and talk about ways to combat COVID-19, our hearts goes out to our most vulnerable population – the homeless and homeless families throughout Georgia. We must ask the following questions:

“Do we have an action plan on how to care for our homeless and homeless families during COVID-19 and if we do, can you please provide us with a copy?

“What is the plan on testing our homeless and homeless families for COVID-19?

“What is the plan to provide housing to our homeless families and homeless population during COVID-19?

“We are asking that you provide us with information on how to respond to our constituents about taking care of our most vulnerable population.

“Governor, this is a nonpartisan issue and we are concerned about the spread and loss of life of our most vulnerable population during this COVID-19 pandemic.

“Thanking you in advance for your present initiatives and speedy response for our most vulnerable population. We are all in this together.”
