SPEAKER APPOINTS REPRESENTATIVE MARK BUTLER TO THE HOUSE STUDY COMMITTEE ON FUNDING FOR THE ARTS

ATLANTA—Speaker of the House Glenn Richardson (R-Hiram) has tapped State Representative Mark Butler to serve on the House Study Committee on Funding for the Arts.

“I am pleased that Representative Butler has accepted this responsibility,” Richardson said. “I am confident that he will do a great job for our state.”

The committee will study art history and preservation in Georgia, art history education in Georgia schools, public funding of the arts, and the impact of the arts on tourism in Georgia. The committee will make recommendations for legislation as needed and make a formal report on or before December 31, 2006.

The committee was created by the passage of House Resolution 1921, authored by Rep. Mark Burkhalter. The committee will end its meeting on December 31, 2006.
