Speaker David Ralston Appoints Members to House Study Committee on Postsecondary Education and Employment Options for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

ATLANTA — Speaker of the House David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) has appointed the following members to the House Study Committee on Postsecondary Education and Employment Options for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities:

  • Rep. Katie Dempsey (R-Rome), Chairman
  • Rep. Amy Carter (R-Valdosta)
  • Rep. Bubber Epps (R-Dry Branch)
  • Rep. Valencia Stovall (D-Lake City)
  • Rep. Bill Werkheiser (R-Glennville)

This study committee is established by House Resolution 642 and will study how to best create postsecondary educational opportunities for Georgians with disabilities and explore the creation and implementation of an “Employment First” policy which provides that employment should be the first and preferred option for all people, regardless of their disability.
