Speaker David Ralston Appoints Representative Richard Smith to the Judicial, District Attorney, and Circuit Public Defender Compensation Commission

ATLANTA — Speaker of the House David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) has appointed State Representative Richard Smith (R-Columbus) to the Judicial, District Attorney, and Circuit Public Defender Compensation Commission.

“Our judges, prosecutors and public defenders ensure that justice is both speedy and fair,” said Representative Smith. “I am honored to be appointed to the commission that ensures they are appropriately compensated for the critical public service that they provide.”

The Judicial, District Attorney, and Circuit Public Defender Compensation Commission consists of five members and two ex-officio members. The committee conducts periodic comprehensive reviews of all aspects of compensation paid to justices, judges, district attorneys, and circuit public defenders.

Representative Smith represents the 134th House District which includes portions of Harris and Muscogee counties. He currently serves as Chairman of the Insurance Committee and as Secretary of the Rules Committee. Representative Smith is also a member of the Appropriations, Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment, Natural Resources and Environment committees.
