ATLANTA – Today, Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) and Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper penned a letter to President Donald Trump thanking him for his tireless commitment to rural Georgia and asking for his support in securing further federal disaster relief funds for the Southeast Georgia communities impacted by Hurricane Helene.
“President Trump has championed rural communities across the nation at every turn, and we know that he will continue to deliver relief for Georgia and our neighbors across the southeast who have been devastated by Hurricane Helene,” said Speaker Jon Burns.
Commissioner Tyler Harper said, “President Trump has always been a strong supporter of rural America and American agriculture, and I’m confident the Trump Administration will deliver the relief that Georgia farm families impacted by Hurricane Helene desperately need.”

“We are grateful for the tireless support of Georgia’s Congressional Delegation and your administration in securing partial federal disaster relief for the individuals and communities impacted by Hurricane Helene, but Georgia’s communities are still facing unprecedented losses and millions of dollars in incurred clean-up costs. Thanks to your leadership, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has extended the application deadline for North Carolinians affected by Hurricane Helene, and I ask you to extend the deadline for every area included in the Major Disaster Declaration, including 41 counties throughout Southeast Georgia.”
