State Budget Includes Over $600,000 in Funding for Darton State College

ATLANTA – State Representative Gerald Greene (R-Cuthbert) announced that the state’s Fiscal Year 2015 (AFY 2015) budget, the state spending plan from July 1 to June 30, included $678,990 in funding for Darton State College. House Bill 744, the FY15 budget, was passed by both the House and Senate on March 18, 2014, sending it to Governor Deal’s desk for his signature.

“I want to thank my colleagues, Representative Buddy Harden, along with the entire Southwest Georgia Legislative Delegation, and the members of the Appropriations Committee for working together in the final days of session to see the value and necessity of these funds for Darton,” said Rep. Greene. “These funds will benefit the facility tremendously as they work to ensure that all of their buildings are up to date and well equipped for student learning.”

This additional funding for Darton State College will go towards HVAC modification at the Student Center. This HVAC modification will help the school to move one phase closer to total renovation of the facility.

This funding was added to the FY15 budget in a decision made by a conference committee days before the legislative session adjourned for the year.
