ATLANTA – State Representative Trey Kelley (R-Cedartown) today announced that he is currently accepting applications for nominations for the Polk County Board of Elections. During the 2023 legislative session, Rep. Kelley championed House Bill 713 to add two additional positions to the Polk County Board of Elections.
“I was honored to sponsor legislation this year that will support our county’s efforts to administer safe, secure and accessible elections,” said Rep. Kelley. “Adding two members who have been vetted by our legislative delegation ensures that the board represents a diverse range of perspectives and interests. This can enhance the transparency and accountability of the board’s decision-making process by incorporating input from different stakeholders.”
Starting July 1, 2023, the board will consist of five Polk County residents. HB 713 specifies that two board members, including the two new positions, must be appointed from a nomination list provided by the members of the Georgia Senate and Georgia House of Representatives who represent all or any portion of Polk County. The Polk County Board of Commissioners will continue to officially select and appoint members of the elections board.

Kelley. “I am looking forward to nominating Georgians who love our county and are committed to strengthening the integrity of our electoral process and fostering public trust in the democratic system.”
Polk County residents may submit their resumes through June 20, 2023. Residents are asked to submit a resume including their credentials and a statement as to why they would like to serve on the Polk County Board of Elections.
