ATLANTA — State Representative Penny Houston (R-Nashville) welcomed Gwen Desselle to the Georgia House of Representatives on March 10, 2010. During the visit, Representative Houston led the Georgia House of Representatives in passing House Resolution 1495, congratulating Desselle for being named the 2010 Georgia Teacher of the Year.
“I am pleased to see such a fine educator in Colquitt County receive this prestigious award,” said Representative Houston. “Gwen’s service is greatly appreciated, and she truly deserves this incredible honor.”
As a teacher for 32 years, Desselle specializes in teaching social sciences and world and United States history. She has a concentration in teaching inclusion classes that combine regular and special education instruction at Colquitt County High School.

Representative Penny Houston represents the citizens of District 170, which includes portions of Berrien, Colquitt, and Cook counties.
