ATLANTA – State Representatives Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain) and Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) will help provide MARTA passes to assist individuals with transportation to Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones’ 3rd Annual DeKalb and Fulton Constituent Services Day on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from 3-5 p.m. at the Georgia Department of Community Health in Atlanta.

Georgia Lawmakers Commemorate 60th Anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid, Calling to Protect and Strengthen the Programs

ATLANTA – Today, State Representatives Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta), Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain), Sandra Scott (D-Rex) and Rhonda Burnough (D-Riverdale) commemorate the 60th anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid. Signed into law on July 30, 1965, by President Lyndon B. Johnson, Medicare provides health coverage to seniors and people with disabilities, while Medicaid delivers care to low-income families, pregnant women, children and seniors in long-term care.
