Rep. Dempsey Passes Specialty Tag Legislation to Fund Zoo Atlanta
Bill also helps historic African American sorority’s scholarship fund

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives today passed House Bill 1005 by a vote of 152 to 2.  This legislation, introduced by state Representative Katie Dempsey (R- Rome), creates a specialty tag for Zoo Atlanta.  In addition, the bill will allow the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority to direct funds from the sale of their existing Georgia license plate to their educational scholarship fund. ATLANTA — The Georgia House of Representatives today passed House Bill 936 by a vote of 160-1. Sponsored by state Representative Paul Battles (R-Cartersville), HB 936 allows school systems to use their replacement allowance for purchasing new school buses towards the refurbishment of existing school buses. House Passes Legislation to Extend Credit for Time Served to Juveniles

ATLANTA — The Georgia House of Representatives today passed House Bill 1144 by a vote of 118-34.  Sponsored by Representative Mary Margaret Oliver (D-Decatur), HB 1144 allows juveniles to receive credit for time served while being held in detention.  Under current law, adults receive such credit, but juveniles do not.
