Rep. Karen Lupton Sworn in, Receives Committee Assignments for the 2023-2024 Legislative Term

ATLANTA – State Representative Karen Lupton (D-Chamblee) was sworn into office as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives on Monday, January 9, 2023, marking her first day of the 2023-2024 legislative term. Monday was the first day of the first term of the 157th Legislative Session of the Georgia General Assembly.

“I am so pleased to be able to serve my constituents,” said Rep. Lupton.  “I am passionate about connecting people with their government, and I will do my very best to make sure the needs of House District 83 are met.”

In addition to being officially sworn in, the Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named Rep. Lupton to the Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Human Relations & Aging and Special Rules committees. 

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives. 

Representative Karen Lupton represents the citizens of District 83, which includes portions of DeKalb County. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves on the Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Human Relations & Aging and Special Rules committees.
