Reps. Marvin Lim, Karen Lupton, Shea Roberts to Hold Press Conference Announcing their 2026 Leadership Training Program

ATLANTA – State Representatives Marvin Lim (D-Norcross), Karen Lupton (D-Chamblee) and Shea Roberts (D-Atlanta) will hold a press conference to highlight their 2026 Leadership Training Program on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 12 p.m. at the South Wing Steps of the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta, Georgia.

“Once in office, how do we legislators serve our constituents – and do it well,” said Rep. Lim “This is a fundamental question that doesn’t get asked often enough. This leadership program has broken down the bread-and-butter of serving for our next generation of leaders.”

“I am incredibly proud of our new Capitol Leadership Training Program,” said Rep. Roberts. “Too often, people who want to serve their communities are locked out of understanding how government actually works. This program pulls back the curtain, equips participants with real-world knowledge and builds the next generation of leaders who are prepared to engage, lead and deliver results for Georgians.”

“One of the best elements of working at the state Capitol is the chance to share what really happens under the Gold Dome with our constituents,” said Rep. Lupton. “This program helps not only elected officials but the general public, as well. It benefits representatives by providing trained interns to help with their work, and it benefits the public because an educated populace is the bedrock of democracy!”

During the press conference, the 2026 Leadership Program will highlight 30 newly trained participants who answered a statewide call to serve their communities. Over the past year, program leaders visited colleges, connected with high schools and invited young people from our areas to step into the world of civic action at a reachable level of state government.

Through a series of pre-session video lessons released weekly and in-depth real-world exercises, students were introduced to how a bill becomes law, committee work, Capitol operations and how legislators help constituents. The representatives emphasize that the Leadership Program provided a map, helping young new leaders translate their voices into service and engagement throughout the 2026 session.

The representatives’ goal is to foster an environment of confidence, mentorship and public-minded leadership and to show young new leaders how they can bring hope and results back to their communities by engaging directly in Georgia’s legislative process.
