ACCG Honors Rep. Eddie Lumsden with 2022 ACCG Legislative Service Award

ATLANTA – State Representative Eddie Lumsden (R-Armuchee), chairman of the House Insurance Committee, was recently recognized by the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) with a 2022 ACCG Legislative Service Award for the second consecutive year. Rep. Lumsden was presented with the award by Todd Edwards, ACCG deputy legislative director, during a Chattooga County Board of Commissioners meeting on July 5, 2022.

“ACCG is an outstanding organization that serves county governments and the citizens of Georgia in an effective and collaborative way,” said Chairman Lumsden. “Having been a county commissioner, I know firsthand how their work trains, prepares and educates elected commissioners to be better servants to the people and the communities they serve. I am pleased to be able to carry legislation that makes ACCG more effective in dealing with the challenges that all 159 counties in Georgia face. I am deeply grateful to be recognized by ACCG for the work that I do on behalf of Georgia counties.”

The ACCG Legislative Service Awards program honors state House and Senate members for their work during each legislative session. During the 2022 legislative session, Rep. Eddie Lumsden authored House Bill 1195, legislation that reflects ACCG’s reporting standards for interlocal risk management agencies within local governments. Rep. Lumsden also co-sponsored House Bill 1461 to create annexation arbitration reforms, and he has also worked to support counties as a member of the House Governmental Affairs Committee.

“The annual Legislative Service Awards program continues to underscore the appreciation for the dedicated members of the Georgia General Assembly,” said ACCG Executive Director Dave Wills. “This program also exemplifies the importance of state and local officials working together to best serve those who call our state home.”

The Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) is Georgia’s county association and works on behalf of county officials and their communities by providing public policy and legislative advocacy, leadership development, civic and community engagement initiatives, insurance and retirement programs that specialize in local government needs and other cost-saving programs. Formed in 1914 when county officials came together to help fund the state’s first highway department, ACCG today serves as a catalyst for advancing Georgia’s counties.
