ATLANTA – Georgia House Majority Caucus Whip James Burchett (R-Waycross) today announces the appointment of his Majority Caucus Whip Team for the 2025-2026 legislative term.
“As House Majority Whip, I’m looking forward to collaborating with my colleagues to address the critical issues facing the state of Georgia and working together toward effective solutions for all our constituents,” said Whip Burchett.
Whip Burchett appointed the following House members to the Majority Caucus Whip Team:
State Representatives Bethany Ballard (R-Warner Robins), Chas Cannon (R-Moultrie), Johnny Chastain (R-Blue Ridge), Rob Clifton (R-Evans), Brent Cox (R-Dawsonville), Sandy Donatucci (R-Buford), Derrick McCollum (R-Chestnut Mountain), Matt Reeves (R-Duluth), Devan Seabaugh (R-Marietta) and Bill Yearta (R-Sylvester).
State Representative Rob Leverett (R-Elberton) will continue to serve as the Chief Deputy Whip.
“As Chief Deputy Whip, I am eager to assist Whip Burchett and our colleagues as we work on behalf of all Georgians,” said Chief Deputy Whip Leverett.
Members of the Whip Team are responsible for monitoring legislation as it moves through committee and floor consideration in the Georgia General Assembly, ensuring their fellow House members understand the details of bills and resolutions.
Representative James Burchett represents the citizens of District 176, which includes all of Atkinson and Lanier counties and portions of Coffee, Lowndes and Ware counties He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2019 and currently serves as the House Majority Whip. He also serves on the Appropriations, Appropriations Subcommittee on Judicial, Ethics, Judiciary, Judiciary Non-Civil, Public and Community Health, Rural Development, State Properties and Transportation committees, as well as an Ex-Officio member of the Rules Committee.
Representative Rob Leverett represents the citizens of District 123, which includes Elbert, Lincoln and Wilkes counties, as well as portions of Columbia and Madison counties. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2020 and currently serves as Chairman of the Reapportionment & Redistricting Committee, Vice Chairman of the Rules Committee and Secretary of the Judiciary Committee. He also serves on the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Governmental Affairs and Judiciary Non-Civil committees.
