House Minority Leader James Beverly Issues Statement on Advancement of House Bill 531

ATLANTA – House Minority Leader James Beverly (D-Macon) today issued the following statement on behalf of the Georgia House Democratic Caucus regarding House Bill 531, which was passed out of committee today, Wednesday, Feb. 24:

“From the beginning, House Bill 531 has served only to further the conspiracy that inspired thousands to attack our United States Capitol on January 6th. Republicans need only to listen to their own secretary of state: the 2020 election cycle had no significant cases of fraud or malfeasance. Why then have they forced through a sweeping suppression bill when more Georgians successfully voted than ever before? The answer is simple. When Republicans lose, they change the rules of the game.”
