ATLANTA- House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) today announced the appointment of Kent Webb to the Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) Board of Directors. A brief biography is below:
Kent Webb, Kennesaw– Webb is a member of the Corporate and Business practice group of the Atlanta-based law firm Taylor English. He focuses his corporate practice on representing technology clients and institutional clients in technology transactions, and he has extensive experience in private equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, and commercialization of intellectual property. Webb also represents and counsels clients in a variety of strategic alliances. Before pursuing his law career, he worked at BellSouth Corporation in a number of different capacities for 13 years. In his final position, Webb served as the chief financial officer for BellSouth NetSource, a strategic business unit focused on serving the corporation’s largest customers. He previously served as a member of the State Election Board. Webb is the Chair Emeritus of the Technology Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia. He and his wife, Diana, have two daughters, Rebecca and Alexa.
About the Georgia Technology Authority
GTA is guided by a 12-member Board of Directors, including seven members appointed by the Governor, two appointed by the Lieutenant Governor, two appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and one non-voting member appointed by the Chief Justice of the Georgia Supreme Court. The Commission was established by Executive Order by Governor Joe Frank Harris in 1986. Governor Zell Miller re-established the Commission upon taking office and charged it with creating education programs for the citizens. In 1998, by act of the Georgia General Assembly, the Commission became a permanent state agency. The Commission consists of fifteen members appointed equally by the Governor, Lt. Governor and Speaker of the House.
