Minority Whip Wilkerson Commends Cobb County Government on 25 Years of AAA Ratings

ATLANTA – State Representative David Wilkerson (D-Powder Springs) commends Cobb County Commission Chairwoman Lisa Cupid and the county’s entire executive team for achieving 25 years of AAA credit ratings from the “Big Three” New York-based credit rating agencies. The AAA rating represents the highest rating possible for the county’s financial outlook.

“I want to congratulate Cobb County for 25 years of AAA credit ratings, and I especially want to commend Chairwoman Cupid for leading the board with absolute integrity,” said Rep. Wilkerson. “This outstanding and rare recognition proves that Cobb County is managed by excellent leaders who will continue to guide the county towards a strong future.”

The AAA rating was designated by the Fitch Group, Moody’s and S&P Global Ratings. The AAA rating signifies the lowest expectation of default risk, and these ratings are only designated to cases with exceptionally strong capacity for payment of financial commitments. The agencies also note that this capacity must be highly unlikely to be adversely affected by foreseeable events.

According to the county’s announcement, only 49 counties in the U.S., or about 1.5 percent, are AAA-rated by all three agencies, and Cobb is one of only three counties in Georgia with this distinction.
