Mainor recently attended an event at Spelman College in which current Spelman President Dr. Mary Schmidt Campbell introduced Dr. Gayle to the community. Rep. Houston Gaines Requests Legislative Investigation into Athens-Clarke County Public Safety Civilian Oversight Board Appointment Process

ATLANTA – State Representative Houston Gaines (R-Athens), chairman of the House Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment Committee, has requested a legislative investigation regarding the appointment process for the Athens-Clarke County (ACC) Public Safety Civilian Oversight Board. Rep. Gaines submitted a letter this morning to the House Public Safety & Homeland Security Chairman J. Collins (R-Villa Rica) requesting an investigation to ensure that state law was followed during the recruitment process.

Rep. Leesa Hagan Selected to Participate in 2022 Emerging Legislative Leaders Program

ATLANTA – State Representative Leesa Hagan (R-Lyons) was selected to participate in the 2022 Emerging Legislative Leaders Program at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, which will take place on the university’s campus later this year. Rep. Hagan was selected as one of 50 state legislators from 45 states to learn from experts about effective legislating and leadership.

Rep. Sheila Jones Introduces Legislation to Honor Women in Male-Dominated Industries

ATLANTA – State Representative Sheila Jones (D-Atlanta) recently introduced House Resolutions 978 and 1031 to recognize women veterans and women golfers in Georgia, respectively. These privileged resolutions were adopted by the Georgia House of Representatives during the 2022 legislative session.
