Rep. Mack Jackson Appointed by Gov. Kemp to Joint Fiscal Affairs Subcommittee

ATLANTA – State Representative Mack Jackson (D-Sandersville) recently was appointed by Governor Brian Kemp to the Joint Fiscal Affairs Subcommittee on Feb. 19, 2021. This subcommittee is responsible for approving changes in agency funding after the Georgia General Assembly has adjourned for the year. The subcommittee also advises the governor on budget changes.

Rep. Viola Davis, Chairman Billy Mitchell Honor Late Councilman Bill Rosenfeld with House Resolution 217

ATLANTA – State Representative Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain) and Minority Caucus Chairman Billy Mitchell (D-Stone Mountain) recently sponsored House Resolution 217 to recognize Friday, February 26, 2021, as City of Tucker Councilman Bill Rosenfeld Day at the State Capitol. Rep. Rebecca Mitchell Introduces Legislation to End School Opt-Outs of State Education Laws

ATLANTA – State Representative Rebecca Mitchell (D-Snellville) recently introduced House Bills 518 and 519, legislation which would end the use of the Georgia Department of Education’s strategic waivers by local school systems to opt out of class size, certifications, state teacher salary schedules, health and physical education, duty-free lunch and personnel termination laws. Rep. Mitchell’s legislative package would also block local school systems from releasing control of their nonperforming schools to for-profit entities.
