Governor Kemp Signs Vice Chair Soo Hong’s ‘Trey’s Law’ to Prevent Use of NDAs in Childhood Sexual Abuse Cases

ATLANTA – State Representative Soo Hong (R-Lawrenceville), vice chair of the House Majority Caucus, announces that House Bill 1187, known as “Trey’s Law,” has been signed into law by Governor Brian Kemp. Sponsored by Vice Chair Hong and a priority of Gov. Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp, the legislation prohibits the use of nondisclosure agreements (NDAs) in childhood sexual abuse cases.

Rep. Scott Hilton’s Legislation Expanding HOPE GPA Eligibility for AP Fine Arts Courses Signed into Law as Part of Education and Workforce Development Legislative Package

ATLANTA – State Representative Scott Hilton (R-Peachtree Corners), chairman of the House Information and Audits Committee, today announces that Governor Brian Kemp has signed Senate Bill 556 into law, a legislative package aimed at expanding access to higher education, strengthening workforce development and enhancing student financial aid programs across Georgia. Included in the legislation is a provision sponsored by Chairman Hilton that expands the Georgia HOPE Scholarship GPA calculation to include Advanced Placement (AP) Fine Arts courses.

ATLANTA – State Representative Tangie Herring (D–Macon) applauds Governor Brian Kemp for signing Senate Bill 589 into law, incorporating her “You Are Not Alone Awareness Act” and requiring Georgia public schools to include the 9-8-8 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline on student ID badges. Rep. Herring was also recently appointed by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve on the House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on the Impact of Online Platforms on Georgia Youth.
