ATLANTA – State Representative Sharon Beasley-Teague (D-Red Oak) along with The National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL) and the National Rifle Association (NRA) are pleased to announce the 16th Annual NFWL/NRA Bill of Rights Essay Scholarship Contest. Each year, NFWL and the NRA join forces to provide six female high school juniors or seniors with the chance to win a college scholarship.

ATLANTA— State Representative Alan Powell (R-Hartwell) recently received the Star of Life Legislator of the Year Award from The Georgia Association of Emergency Medical Services (GAEMS).
Rep. Powell was presented with this award at The Georgia Association of Emergency Medical Services annual awards banquet on May 2, 2013.

ATLANTA – State Representative Sheila Jones (D-Atlanta) and the Office Depot Foundation are pleased to announce that several 5th grade students in Georgia House District 53 schools have been chosen to receive colorful new “sackpacks” containing essential school supplies as part of the Foundation’s National Backpack Program. The Back to School Celebration was held on Friday, July 19, 2013 where the sackpacks were distributed.
