ATLANTA – State Representative Carl Gilliard (D-Savannah) will receive the Rosa Parks Civil Rights Award in recognition of his 43 years of public service and his commitment to advancing the nation, the State of Georgia and the Savannah community during an awards ceremony on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the Eckburg Auditorium at Savannah Technical College in Savannah, Georgia.
The ceremony will feature appearances and performances by Mark Wood Jr., Jimmy “Lord” Brown, Curtis “Ola Ola Aye” Reynolds, formerly of “Brick,” Summer Wolfe and actor Donnie Carrington, known for his roles in “Beyond the Gates” and “BMF.” Rep. Gilliard will also be recognized for his work on the television series “The Family Business” and “Shameless.”
