Rep. Clay Pirkle Named Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation & Infrastructure

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Clay Pirkle (R-Ashburn) as the Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation & Infrastructure. He will also serve as Secretary of the State Properties Committee, as well as a member on the Special Committee on Access to Quality Health Care and the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Banks & Banking, Higher Education and Science and Technology committees.

“It is an honor to serve on the House Appropriations Committee in this new capacity,” said Rep. Pirkle. “Our transportation infrastructure is vital for Georgia businesses to move goods quickly and efficiently across the state. Over the last several years, the House has championed several initiatives to help improve our state’s transportation network, and I am committed to continuing this work to help strengthen our transportation infrastructure, which will help draw new businesses and jobs to Georgia.”

The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation assists with drafting the state budgets, specifically transportation-related budgetary items.

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Clay Pirkle represents the citizens of District 155, which includes Ben, Hill, Irwin and Turner counties and portions of Tift and Coffee counties. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2015 and currently serves as Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation & Infrastructure and Secretary of the State Properties Committee. He also serves on the Special Committee on Access to Quality Health Care and the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Banks & Banking, Higher Education and Science and Technology committees.
