Rep. Farooq Mughal Selected as “Most Powerful Business Leader” by Atlanta Magazine

ATLANTA – State Representative Farooq Mughal (D-Dacula) was recently selected by Atlanta Magazine as one of Georgia’s “Most Powerful Business Leaders” for the fourth year in a row. The magazine’s 2024 list recognizes men and women from Georgia’s businesses, communities, governments and education sectors for their leadership, influence and positive impact on the state.

“I am deeply honored and grateful to Atlanta Magazine for recognizing my contributions as a ‘Most Powerful Business Leader’ for the fourth consecutive year,” said Rep. Mughal. “This recognition is not just a personal achievement but a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone who has supported me along this journey. I am committed to continuing to serve Georgia with integrity and dedication, driving positive change and growth in our business community and beyond.”

Rep. Mughal joins a list of distinguished business and government leaders in Georgia, including House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington); Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens; Arthur Blank, Atlanta Falcons owner; Ted Deckner, chair, president and CEO of Home Depot; James Quincey president and CEO of Coca-Cola; Ed Bastain, CEO of Delta Airlines; Carol Tomé, CEO of UPS; and Chris Clark, CEO of Georgia Chamber of Commerce CEO. This list also includes former Governor Nathan Deal and former Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Leah Ward Sears.

Rep. Mughal currently serves as a board member of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. He has been recognized through multiple awards and honors as a leader who has made significant strides in his time as an effective legislator. He received an A+ ranking from the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and minority organizations, such as Poder Latinx. He co-sponsored several bills in his first legislative session that have received passage, such as House Bill 128, helping minority businesses, House Bill 383, protecting our hospital workers, House Bill 414, fixing veteran mental healthcare and House Bill 711 and House Bill 748, providing tax relief for Gwinnett residents. This session, Rep. Mughal has introduced legislation to help young families, new businesses, public safety and teachers and first responders.

Representative Farooq Mughal represents the citizens of District 105, which includes portions of Gwinnett County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves on the Special Rules, Judiciary Non-Civil and State Planning & Community Affairs committees.
