Rep. Geoff Duncan Appointed Ways & Means Subcommittee Chair

ATLANTA – State Representative Jay Powell (R-Camilla), Chairman of the House Ways & Means Committee, recently appointed State Representative Geoff Duncan (R-Cumming) to serve as the Chairman of the Sales Tax Subcommittee of the House Ways & Means Committee.

“I’m honored to be named the Chairman of the Sales Tax Subcommittee of the Ways & Means Committee, and I would like to thank Chairman Powell for this opportunity,” said Rep. Duncan. “Our constituents elected us to serve their best interests, and I look forward to doing-so by working with my colleagues to continue improving our state’s tax structure.”

The Committee on Ways & Means is the chief tax-writing committee in the House of Representatives. The Committee derives a large share of its jurisdiction from the state Constitution which declares, “All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives.”
