Speaker David Ralston Appoints Representative John Meadows as Co-Chair of the High School Athletics Overview Committee

ATLANTA — Speaker of the House David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) has appointed Representative John Meadows (R-Calhoun) as Co-Chair of the High School Athletics Overview Committee.

Representative Meadows will fill the unexpired term of former state representative Jay Roberts which runs through the end of the 2015 – 2016 legislative session.

Representative Meadows represents the 5th House District which includes portions of Gordon and Murray counties. He currently serves as Chairman of the House Rules Committee. Chairman Meadows is also a member of the Governmental Affairs, Industry and Labor, Insurance, Retirement, and Game, Fish, & Parks committees.

The High School Athletics Overview Committee is comprised of five representatives and five senators along with two ex-officio members. The committee reviews the operation of high school athletic associations that govern interscholastic athletic events in which Georgia public high school students participate.
