Rep. Gilliard Issues Statement on Passing of Port Wentworth Mayor Pro Tem Debbie Johnson

ATLANTA – State Representative Carl Gilliard (D-Garden City) today issued the following statement regarding the recent passing of Port Wentworth Mayor Pro Tem Debbie Johnson:

 

“It is with deep sympathy that I send my condolences to the mayor and the city council of Port Wentworth, Georgia on the passing of Mayor Pro Tem Debbie Johnson. Our hearts and prayers are with the City of Port Wentworth and Mayor Pro Tem Johnson’s family during this time of grief. We are thankful for the service and leadership of Mayor Pro Tem Johnson. The State of Georgia stands with you.”

 

Mayor Pro Tem Johnson passed away unexpectedly due to complications from an illness on Sunday, January 12, 2020.

 

Representative Carl Gilliard represents the citizens of District 162, which includes portions of Chatham County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2016 and currently serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Economic Development, Insurance, Interstate Cooperation, State Properties and Transportation committees. He is a member of the Working Group on Creative Arts & Entertainment.
