Rep. Greene Named Vice Chairman of Economic Development & Tourism Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Gerald Greene (R-Cuthbert) as the Vice Chairman of the Economic Development & Tourism Committee. Rep. Greene also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety and the Secretary of the State Properties Committee, and as a member on the Public Safety and Homeland Security, Retirement, and Rules Committees.

“I am deeply humbled by the committee’s belief in me to serve in this capacity,” said Rep. Greene. “This appointment is so important because of southwest Georgia’s commitment to tourism and economic development.”

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Gerald Greene represents the citizens of District 151, which includes Calhoun, Clay, Early, Quitman, Randolph, Stewart, Terrell, and Webster counties, as well as portions of Dougherty County. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 1982, and serves as Vice Chairman of the Economic Development & Tourism Committee, Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety, and the Secretary of the State Properties Committee. He also serves on the Public Safety and Homeland Security, Retirement, and Rules committees.
