Rep. Ronnie Mabra Appointed to Georgia Child Support Commission

ATLANTA – Governor Nathan Deal recently appointed State Representative Ronnie Mabra (D-Fayetteville) to the Georgia Child Support Commission. The commission is charged with studying the effectiveness of Georgia’s child support guidelines.

“I am honored that Governor Deal selected me to serve as a member of this commission,” said Rep. Mabra. “I look forward to working with the other members of the commission as we strive to always do what is best for the children in Georgia and ensure that they receive child support that is reflective of today’s cost of living standards.”

The Georgia Child Support Commission is responsible for conducting a comprehensive review of the child support guidelines, economic conditions, and all matters relevant to maintaining effective and efficient child support guidelines. The commission determines whether adjustments or modifications are needed to the child support guidelines or the child support obligation table, which is used to determine the amount of the basic child support obligation. Any changes in the child support obligation table must be approved by the General Assembly before going into effect.

Representative Ronnie Mabra represents the citizens of District 63, which includes portions of Clayton, Fayette, and Fulton counties. He was elected in 2012, and currently serves on the Code Revision, Governmental Affairs, Higher Education, and Judiciary committees. Rep. Mabra is also the newly elected Vice Chair of the Fayette county legislative delegation and the secretary of Clayton county legislative delegation.
