Rep. Lynn Smith Keynote Speaker at the Atlanta Regional Commission’s “Gray goes Green” Summit

ATLANTA— State Representative Lynn Smith (R-Newnan) served as a keynote speaker during the Atlanta Regional Commission’s “Gray goes Green” Lifelong Communities Summit 2013 on Tuesday, September 17, 2013. The “Grey goes Green” summit examines the role between aging, health, and the environment.

“I am overwhelmed by the interest that the community has in the environment and their willingness to get involved,” said Rep. Smith. “There are so many ways that we can all get involved – from our park systems, to the UGA extension services. The natural resources that our state has to offer are vast, and I am honored that I was able to speak about Georgia’s natural resources at this event.”

The Atlanta Regional Commission hosted the Lifelong Communities 2013 Summit to promote health and the opportunities for aging and environmental professionals to advance a common agenda. The conference was attended by over 200 national and local experts in the fields of transportation, regional economics, public health, environment, and aging. Topics included environmental factors for healthy aging, the medicinal value of nature, and many others.

Every year, the conference seeks to highlight integrated approaches for creating communities that encourage healthy aging. The conference features local activists and naturalists who share opportunities to explore nature in the Atlanta Region.
