Rep. Matt Dubnik Named Co-Chair of Joint Study Committee on Dual Enrollment for Highly Skilled Talent at Younger Ages

ATLANTA – State Representative Matt Dubnik (R-Gainesville), chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Education, was named by Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve as the chairman of the Joint Study Committee on Dual Enrollment for Highly Skilled Talent at Younger Ages.

“Being appointed as a co-chairman of this joint study committee is an honor, and I’m grateful Speaker Burns recognizes my passion for helping Georgia’s future workforce,” said Rep. Dubnik. “As the number one state to do business, we need to improve how we equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for success in the workforce. This study committee presents a valuable opportunity to assess Georgia’s dual enrollment programs and explore solutions that will enable more students to participate in these programs.”

Created by Senate Resolution 175, the Joint Study Committee on Dual Enrollment for Highly Skilled Talent at Younger Ages will examine Georgia’s existing dual enrollment opportunities to develop highly skilled talent at younger ages and identify potential solutions that will yield more dual enrollment participants.

Speaker Burns also appointed the following legislative and non-legislative members to this joint study committee: State Representatives Rick Townsend (R-Brunswick), Stacey Evans (D-Atlanta), Bethany Ballard (R-Warner Robins) and Trey Sheppard, president of Howard Sheppard, LLC.

Representative Matt Dubnik represents the citizens of District 29, which includes portions of Hall County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2016 and currently serves as Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Education. He also serves on the Education, Game, Fish & Parks, Higher Education, Juvenile Justice, Regulated Industries, Small Business Development, Technology and Infrastructure Innovation and Urban Affairs committees.
