ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Rep. Robert Dickey (R-Musella) as the Chairman of the House Agriculture & Consumer Affairs Committee.
“I am humbled and honored by this appointment to continue to chair the Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee,” said Rep. Dickey. “I appreciate Speaker Burns and the Committee on Assignments having confidence in my ability to lead this important House committee. As a fourth generation farmer, I am fortunate to be able to continue my family’s legacy and be a voice for agriculture and agri-business. I look forward to working with State Senator Russ Goodman to shape and guide agricultural policy in our state as we continue to keep Georgia’s agriculture economy strong and vibrant for producers, agribusiness and our consumers. This committee will continue to keep agriculture and consumer interests at heart.”
The House Agricultural & Consumer Affairs Committee considers legislation that impacts Georgia’s largest economic industry, agriculture. Other areas of concern are human nutrition, consumer consumption of food and its safety aspects, as well as the state’s robust plant industry.
“Georgia has one of the most diverse food and fiber productions in the country,” added Rep. Dickey. “I want to make sure Georgia has policies to assist all facets of agriculture, while protecting our precious natural resources. We will continue to balance the needs of rural producers and agri-business with urban consumers. Fortunately, we have a strong bipartisan synergy on this committee for this balance. Keeping our food supply abundant, safe and affordable, while ensuring our farmers and their families can continue to produce is vitally important to me and my committee.”
The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Robert Dickey represents the citizens of District 145, which includes Crawford County and portions of Bibb, Houston, Monroe and Peach counties. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2011 and currently serves as Chairman of the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs Committee.
