Rep. Scott Hilton Partners With Fulton County Schools to Pay Off Student Lunch Debt Ahead of Holiday Season

ATLANTA – State Representative Scott Hilton (R–Peachtree Corners) recently partnered with Fulton County Schools to pay off student lunch debt for all students in House District 48 ahead of the holiday season. The schools receiving the funds are Northwood Elementary School in Roswell, Barnwell Elementary School in Johns Creek and Mimosa Elementary also located in Roswell, Georgia.

“As the father of three young children, I am on a mission to ease the financial burden on parents ahead of the holidays,” said Rep. Hilton. “As families struggle with record high inflation, I am honored to deliver relief to hardworking Georgians in our community. Students who struggle with food insecurity often wear their financial stress on their sleeves at school. No child should have their breakfast or lunch taken away because parents could not pay. As Vice-Chairman of the House Committee on Education, I believe we must care for the whole student so they are ready to excel in the classroom and beyond. I am excited to know that families will go home for the holidays with zero debt remaining on their student lunch account.”

Rep. Hilton eliminated the school lunch debt for these three elementary schools which all had outstanding balances close to $1,000.

Representative Scott Hilton represents the citizens of District 48, which includes portions of Fulton and Gwinnett counties. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2016 and re-elected in 2022 and currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Creative Arts & Entertainment and Education committees. He also serves on the Public Health and Urban Affairs committees.
