Rep. Sharon Cooper Selected for Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Women of Influence Awards

ATLANTA – State Representative Sharon Cooper (R-Marietta), chair of the House Health and Human Services Committee, was recently selected as one of Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 2021 Women of Influence. Rep. Cooper will be presented with the award during a celebration event on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021.

“It is an honor to be recognized by Atlanta Business Chronicle alongside so many influential women in the metro area,” said Rep. Cooper. “Women have made exceptional strides across the professional and political spectrums, but the work is just getting started. I know personally how much work goes into raising women leaders. When I was just a young girl, my mother died a horrific death, and later my stepmother became severely mentally ill. So, I want to thank the many woman who stepped in to guide me in my own journey of becoming a leader.”

Each year, Atlanta Business Chronicle recognizes 21 women who drive Atlanta business in all different industries and professions. During the award celebration event, the publication will recognize Atlanta’s most dynamic, powerful and game-changing professionals.

Rep. Cooper was recognized for serving as the first female House Republican Caucus chair in Georgia history. The chronicle also highlighted her professional background as a registered nurse and patient advocate. The publication commended her for championing legislation to expand access to health care and support underserved citizens as a committee chairman.

Representative Sharon Cooper represents the citizens of District 43, which includes portions of Cobb County. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 1996 and currently serves as Chairman of the Health & Human Services Committee and Vice Chairman of the Special Committee On Access to Quality Health Care. She also serves on the Judiciary Non-Civil, Regulated Industries and Rules committees.
