Rep. Sharon Henderson to Hold Press Conference on Early Detection for Prostate Cancer Legislation being Signed by Governor Kemp

ATLANTA – State Representative Sharon Henderson (D-Covington) will hold a press conference to discuss House Bill 384 TOMORROW, Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the South Wing of the State Capitol.

“As a Democratic legislator, I am honored to have Governor Kemp sign my bill into law. This bill is close to my heart as I was diagnosed this past year with an early form of breast cancer. Due to early detection, I am now cancer-free,” said Rep. Henderson. “I am so proud to say that by providing PSA prostate specific antigen tests reminders, we can encourage men in Georgia to schedule their annual screenings and hopefully detect prostate cancer earlier and help more men get the care they need to save lives.”

Under HB 384, insurance companies will now be required to send annual notices to male clients starting at age 45 to get a prostate-specific antigen test.

Governor Kemp signed Rep. Henderson’s legislation along with other bills to help strengthen Georgia’s healthcare system.

This is Rep. Henderson’s second term in the Georgia House of Representatives and her second piece of legislation to receive final passage and be signed into law by Governor Kemp since she took office in 2020.
