Rep. Sheila Jones Welcomes Senior Pastor Sherwin Jack as Chaplain of the Day for Georgia House of Representatives

ATLANTA – State Representative Sheila Jones (D-Atlanta) recently welcomed Senior Pastor Sherwin Jack of Berean Seventh-Day Adventist Church as Chaplain of the Day for the Georgia House of Representatives on Friday, February 16, or Legislative Day 22 of the 2024 legislative session.

 “With more than three decades of dedicated ministry under his belt, Pastor Jack’s profound commitment to prayer has touched lives globally. His pivotal role in founding five churches across the United States is a testament to his unwavering devotion,” said Rep. Jones. “Welcoming him to the Georgia House of Representatives as our Chaplain of the Day was a true honor.”

Senior Pastor Sherwin Jack, originally from Trinidad, immigrated to Brooklyn, New York, with his family during his childhood. Initially aspiring to pursue a career in commercial banking, his path shifted when he felt a calling to the gospel ministry. Pastor Jack has served in various capacities including pastor, evangelist, ministerial secretary and board chair for Northeastern Academy. His global ministry has taken him to numerous countries, where he has contributed to the establishment of churches, including in Romania, Moldova and the United States. A graduate of Oakwood University with a B.A. in Theology, Pastor Jack furthered his education at Andrews University, earning a Master of Divinity, and later obtaining a Doctorate in Pastoral Counseling from Hebrew Union College. He holds certificates in pastoral counseling and family therapy from Onondaga Mental Health Institute and Post Graduate Mental Health Center. Pastor Jack, currently serves as the Senior Pastor at Berean Seventh-day Adventist Church in Atlanta.

Representative Sheila Jones represents the citizens of District 60, which includes portions of Fulton County. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2004 and currently serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education, and the Health, Juvenile Justice and Transportation committees.
