Rep. Todd Jones Named Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Education

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Todd Jones (R-South Forsyth) as the Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Education. Rep. Jones will also serve as Vice Chairman of the Science and Technology Committee and as a member on the Special Committee on Access to Quality Health Care and the Budget & Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Code Revision, Economic Development & Tourism, Education, Industry & Labor and Judiciary committees.

“I appreciate the opportunity to serve K-12 education in our state,” said Rep. Jones. “A quality, innovative educational experience sets the foundation for our students’ future.”

The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Education assists with drafting the state budgets, specifically education-related budgetary items. The committee also hears legislation that has considerable impact on the state revenue or expenditures regarding education.

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Todd Jones represents the citizens of District 25, which includes portions of Forsyth and Fulton counties. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2016 and currently serves as Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Education and as Vice Chairman of the Science and Technology Committee. He also serves on the Special Committee on Access to Quality Health Care and the Budget & Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Code Revision, Economic Development & Tourism, Education, Industry & Labor and Judiciary committees.
