ATLANTA – State Representative Yasmin Neal (D-Jonesboro) recently received a 2011 Environmental Leadership Award from Georgia Conservation Voters, a statewide non-partisan organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of all Georgians by making conservation issues a top priority with Georgia’s elected officials, political candidates and voters.
“It was a pleasure to be honored by such a great entity and I sincerely appreciate them honoring myself and others in this manner,” said Rep. Neal.
Georgia Conservation Voters works with environmental and outdoor organizations across the state to develop shared legislative priorities each year. The legislators who received Environmental Leadership Awards were chosen based upon their votes and leadership on the common agenda.
“Representative Neal stood up for Georgia’s families this year and actively worked to promote an understanding among her colleagues of the need to protect Georgia’s environment as an integral part of preserving our way of life,” said Rob Teilhet, Executive Director of Georgia Conservation Voters. “Thanks to Representative Neal’s leadership, Georgia’s natural resources had a voice at the state capital.”
Representative Yasmin Neal represents the citizens of District 75, which includes portions of Clayton and Fayette counties. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 2010, and currently serves on the Children & Youth, Judiciary Non-Civil, and Public Safety & Homeland Security committees.
