Representative Lynn Smith Named One of 2013’s Most Influential Georgians

ATLANTA – The January 2013 edition of Georgia Trend Magazine named State Representative Lynn Smith (R-Newnan) one of the Most Influential Georgians of 2013.

“It is an honor to be recognized by Georgia Trend Magazine alongside other business, government, educational, and non-profit leaders throughout the state,” said Rep. Lynn Smith. “I am proud to serve the good people of HD 70 at our state capitol.”

Rep. Smith was recognized as an accomplished legislator, business owner and teacher, as well as for her recent work on House Bill 1102. The bill contains modifications to the brown-field program, which offers liability protection and tax incentives for those who clean up environmentally damaged land. HB 1102 passed in the Georgia House of Representatives and became a law in May.

Georgia Trend Magazine is Georgia’s only statewide business publication in the market. In a list that has become an annual tradition, naming the “who’s who” of Georgia, the “Most Influential Georgians: Georgia’s Power List” also includes Speaker David Ralston, Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle, U.S. Congressman Sanford Bishop, Minority Leader Stacey Abrams (D-Atlanta), U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss, Georgia Department of Agriculture Commissioner Gary W. Black, and Georgian of the Year Governor Nathan Deal.

Rep. Smith has an extensive history of volunteering in her community. In addition to chairing several committees such as the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce, the Newnan-Coweta Public Library, and the Newnan Junior Service League, she has given of her time to several other worthy causes and organizations. She and her husband, Charles, recently retired as business owners from Murray Printing Co., a business established in 1845. She also taught in the Coweta County School system and continues to be a school volunteer in the HD 70 community.

Representative Lynn Smith represents the citizens of House District 70, which includes portions of Coweta and Carroll counties. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 1996, and is currently the Chairman of the Natural Resources and Environment Committee.
