Rep. Karla Drenner to Attend CALS Leadership Program
ATLANTA – State Representative Karla Drenner (D-Avondale Estates) has been chosen as one of 25 state government officials from across the 15-state Southern Legislative Conference (SLC) region to participate in The Center for the Advancement of Leadership Skills (CALS) 2013 Leadership Program. The program is held at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute in Arkansas from October 30-November 3, 2013.

Rep. Karla Drenner Wins the NextGen Speaker Contest
ATLANTA – State Representative Karla Drenner (D-Avondale Estates) has been chosen as one of five winners of the Next Generation of Government Training (NextGen) Speaker Contest. Rep. Drenner will now travel to Washington, D.C. in July to deliver her speech at the NextGen Summit.

Rep. Drenner Introduces Legislation to Protect EMC Customers
ATLANTA — State Representative Karla Drenner (D-Avondale Estates) today announced the introduction of House Bill 500, legislation to increase the amount of oversight the Public Service Commission (PSC) has over Electric Membership Corporations (EMCs). Specifically, HB 500 would require the PSC to review any EMC contract for the purchase of power that runs longer than five years.

Bi-Partisan Duo Challenges Georgia Power on Nuclear Cost Overrun Profiteering
ATLANTA — State Representatives Jeff Chapman (R-Brunswick) and Karla Drenner (D-Avondale Estates) today announced that they are cosponsoring House Bill 267. HB 267 would limit the amount of profit that Georgia Power is eligible to recover from residential and small business ratepayers for cost overruns incurred in the construction of two new nuclear reactors at Plant Vogtle in east Georgia.
