Democratic State Legislators to File Second Open Records Request with Georgia Department of Labor

ATLANTA – House Minority Caucus Chairman James Beverly (D-Macon), State Representatives Rhonda Burnough (D-Riverdale), Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain), Debra Bazemore (D-South Fulton), Sharon Beasley-Teague (D-Red Oak), Donna McLeod (D-Lawrenceville), Sandra Scott (D-Rex), Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta), Valencia Stovall (D-Forest Park) and Mary Robichaux (D-Roswell) today announced their plans to submit a second open records request to the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) for information concerning the backlog of Unemployment Insurance (UI) claims. The legislators filed an initial request on July 21, 2020, and have not received a reply regarding their first request. Concerned State Legislators Continue Work to Eliminate Unemployment Insurance Benefits Backlog

ATLANTA – State Representatives Sandra Scott (D-Rex) and Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta), along with House Minority Caucus Chairman James Beverly (D-Macon), State Representatives Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain), Donna McLeod (D-Lawrenceville), Rhonda Burnough (D-Riverdale) and Valencia Stovall (D-Forest Park), recently have worked to eliminate the backlog of Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits requests in Georgia. Rep. Viola Davis Announces Passage of DeKalb County Ethics Legislation

ATLANTA – State Representative Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain) today announced that the Georgia House of Representatives gave final passage to House Bill 1243 on the last day of the 2020 legislative session on Friday, June 26. Rep. Davis, who was appointed chair of the DeKalb County House Ethics Committee, sponsored HB 1243, which would update codes for the DeKalb County Board of Ethics and will be placed on a local ballot as a referendum in November 2020.
