Chairman Alan Powell Welcomes New Officers of House Regulated Industries Committee

ATLANTA – State Representative Alan Powell(R-Hartwell), chair of the House Regulated Industries Committee, welcomes State Representatives Dale Washburn (R-Macon) and Ginny Ehrhart (R-Marietta) as the new officers for the House Regulated Industries Committee. Rep. Washburn will serve as the committee’s vice chairman, and Rep. Ehrhart will serve as the committee’s secretary.

“Both of these members have shown exemplary leadership skills and are committed to doing a good job of representing Georgia’s families and business,” said Rep. Powell. “We look forward to working together as a committee and keeping the best interests of the citizens of Georgia.”

Chairman Powell commends Rep. Washburn’s strong background in real estate. He is a licensed instructor and owns and operates the Dale Washburn School of Real Estate. He has written several continuing education courses that are approved by the Georgia Real Estate Commission. Rep. Washburn’s experience also includes residential and commercial brokerage and development, as well as property management, both as practitioner and as a principle broker.

Powell is also eager to work with Rep. Ehrhart, who earned a degree from Auburn University in international trade. Rep. Ehrhart is a hands-on small business owner and entrepreneur. She taught high school economics and American government before starting Southern Sisters Enterprises, LLC, which is a successful business that designs, manufactures and markets home decor and linens with a southern theme. She is a frequent speaker on regional and national television and radio. She also writes and teaches about the art of southern cuisine and hospitality.

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Alan Powell represents the citizens of District 32, which includes Franklin and Hart counties and portions of Madison County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 1990 and currently serves as Chairman of the Regulated Industries Committee and Vice Chairman on the Special Committee on Election Integrity. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety and the Governmental Affairs, Interstate Cooperation, Motor Vehicles, Public Safety & Homeland Security, Rules and Small Business Development committees.

Representative Dale Washburn represents the citizens of District 141, which includes portions of Bibb and Monroe counties. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2018 and currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Regulated Industries Committee. He also serves as a member on the Banks & Banking, Higher Education, Small Business Development and Ways & Means committees.

Representative Ginny Ehrhart represents the citizens of District 36, which includes portions of Cobb County. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2018 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Higher Education Committee and Secretary of the Regulated Industries Committee. She also serves on the Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Information and Audits, Science and Technology and Transportation committees.
