Cherokee County Legislative Delegation Elects New Officers

ATLANTA – Members of the Cherokee County Legislative Delegation recently met to elect its new officers to lead the legislative delegation ahead of the 2021 legislative session, which begins Monday, January 11. State Representative Mandi Ballinger (R-Canton) was elected to serve as chair of the Cherokee County Legislative Delegation.

“I am honored and eager to return to the State Capitol with this talented group of state legislators for the 2021 legislative session,” said Rep. Ballinger. “As we begin the New Year and the 2021-2022 legislative term, the Cherokee County Legislative Delegation will always remain loyal and committed to the citizens of Cherokee County. Our delegation looks forward to working to champion legislative ideas that will benefit this wonderful county.”

In addition to electing Rep. Ballinger as chair of the delegation, State Representative Brad Thomas (R-Holly Springs) was elected as vice chair, and State Senator Brandon Beach (R-Alpharetta) was elected as the delegation’s secretary. The delegation also adopted its rules for the 2021-2022 legislative term.

Representative Mandi L. Ballinger represents the citizens of District 23, which includes portions of Cherokee County. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2012 and currently serves as Chairman of the Juvenile Justice Committee and as Secretary of the Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight Committee. She also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety and the Information and Audits, Judiciary Non-Civil, Rules and Transportation committees.

Representative Elect Brad Thomas was elected in 2020 to represent the citizens of District 21, which includes portions of Cherokee County. He will be sworn into office on January 11, 2021.
