Speaker Jon Burns Announces Appointments to Two House Study Committees

ATLANTA – Today, Speaker of the House Jon Burns (R-Newington) announced the members of two additional House study committees. These committees were created by legislation adopted during the 2024 session of the Georgia General Assembly.


House Study Committee on Private Water Systems

  • Rep. Trey Rhodes – Chair (R-Greensboro)
  • Rep. Robert Dickey (R-Musella)
  • Rep. Lynn Smith (R-Newnan)
  • Rep. Debbie Buckner (D-Junction City)
  • Rep. Bill Hitchens (R-Rincon)
  • Rep. Beth Camp (R-Concord)
  • Rep. Jason Ridley (R-Chatsworth)
  • Mr. Jason Shaw, Public Service Commissioner, will serve as the Non-Legislative Member.

Created by House Resolution 1498, the House Study Committee on Private Water Systems will carefully evaluate all aspects of the operation of private water systems in this state and may make recommendations for proposed legislation ahead of the 2025 legislative session.

  • Rep. Lynn Smith – Chair (R-Newnan)
  • Rep. Stan Gunter (R-Blairsville)
  • Rep. Al Williams (D-Midway)
  • Rep. John Corbett (R-Lake Park)
  • Rep. Johnny Chastain (R-Blue Ridge)
  • Rep. James Burchett (R-Waycross)
  • Mr. Jud Turner will serve as the Non-Legislative Member

Created by House Resolution 1554, the House Study Committee on Navigable Streams and Related Matters will examine aspects of navigable streams in this state and the complex issues surrounding their ownership, private and public rights of use and other related matters and may make recommendations for proposed legislation ahead of the 2025 legislative session.
